A diverse, culturally rich, festive living space - 100% Montreal!

THE EVENT

The Jardins Gamelin are back in force for their 8th season!

Rediscover your Jardins Gamelin as you knew them: festive, musical, green and gourmet. We're waiting for you with a wide range of activities, performances by artists from all over the world and a ton of opportunities to dance with your friends! In a relaxed atmosphere, take a break on the large terrace with the return of the Casse-croûte and its bar, to enjoy the beautiful summer days with friends and family.

Established eight years ago at Place Émilie-Gamelin in the Quartier des Spectacles, the spirit of the Jardins Gamelin is rooted in the values of social inclusion, collaboration and cohabitation. It is a true place of life where urban agriculture is at the forefront. Throughout the four-month season, there are thematic gardens, a redesigned layout and free cultural and musical programming reflecting the diversity and artistic richness of Montreal.

The Jardins Gamelin initiative and the revitalization of this public space are being carried out by the Partenariat du Quartier des Spectacles and thanks to the support of the borough of Ville-Marie and numerous partners, including Sentier Urbain, the Société de développement social and the SPVM.

Outdoor exhibits

Stop by all day to discover free outdoor exhibits specifically created for the Jardins Gamelin. From May to July, the Société de développement social de Ville-Marie presents portraits of people experiencing homelessness, and in August and September, the BAnQ takes over to showcase a selection of archival images that have been reimagined by artists. Stay tuned for more information!

Croisement de rue

This open-air exhibition showcases in images the enriching encounters that are at the heart of Société de développement social (SDS)’s activities. Croisement de rue illustrates an aspect of homelessness that is all too often overshadowed by the suffering those who are homeless experience—the individuals’ philosopher, storyteller, exuberant, wise, multifaceted side. In short, it highlights the beautiful and interesting aspect of the clients that psychosocial workers meet every day on the streets of Montréal.

Over the course of her experience as a photographer and a psychosocial worker at SDS since 2016, Céline Côté has paid particular attention to these facets of the people she meets who are experiencing homelessness. Through her portraits and the testimonies she has recorded, she shares their stories with us in a caring way. To hear their stories, scan the QR code found on the image.

The Giant Games

Have some big outdoor fun all summer with our giant games! Chess, Connect Four, bean bag toss, checkers and Jenga – there are plenty of ways to play in Les Jardins Gamelin! Also available: free ping-pong and foosball tables.
