Montreal, April 18, 2019 – The Quartier des Spectacles Partnership invites Montrealers and visitors to the opening of Les Jardins Gamelin on Thursday, May 30 at 5 p.m. The festive evening will set the tone for a 5th season featuring a warm, welcoming atmosphere and the full spectrum of Montreal’s artistic diversity. Until September 29, Les Jardins Gamelin is the place to be for free cultural and civic activities, drinks with friends, or a snack on the lush green terrasse – just some of the many irresistible charms of Montreal’s favourite summer spot.
AN ELECTRIFYING OPENING NIGHT
THURSDAY, MAY 30 AT 5 P.M.
At 5 p.m, DJ Kobal will revive the spirit of Les Jardins Gamelin with a selection of Afro-funk and Caribbean tunes. At 6:30, the trio Paupière will launch the evening’s concert line-up with a powerful, danceable, theatrical performance blending 80s British synth-pop and French chanson. At 8 p.m., Papagroove, an ensemble of ten world-class musicians, will get you up and dancing with their Afro-funk beats. To cap the evening on a high note, AfrotroniX will deliver a mind-blowing performance combining electronic DJ music, drums and African urban dance, from 9:30 to 11 p.m.
Throughout the evening, La Maison jaune will welcome families for some outdoor play, as well as a variety of guided workshops for kids. Lastly, take a tour of the flower, vegetable and plant gardens designed by social greening organization Sentier Urbain, and admire the butterflies in the butterfly tent.
