On September 7, several thousand citizens gathered for the GRAND BAISER, the inaugural event of the Place des Festivals.
All came to celebrate a dream come true. An impossible dream, developed by all the builders of the Quartier des spectacles; a place that responds to the needs of large-scale festivals, that gives medium-sized events an opportunity to increase their scale and that offers smaller festivals a home; and that creates a public space where Montrealers, visitors and tourists can relax.
Montreal now has a major public space to enhance its reputation and extend its reach. Developed by the firm of Daoust Lestage, this high-quality urban space will become the showcase of creative Montreal.
The Quartier des spectacles Partnership will maintain, manage and program the space with a host of cultural activities.
