The jury for Mosaiculture International Shanghai 2006 unanimously awarded Montreal the Grand Honorary International Award for its exhibit, entitled "Montreal, On Stage!".

This was the third edition of the international mosaiculture competition, started by the City of Montreal in 2000 and carried forward by the International Mosaiculture of Montreal corporation.

The work represents the urban landscape of Montreal Island with the colours of the four seasons, and the cultural face of Montreal is shown through personalities that illustrate the city's festivals and cultural institutions: the Festival international de jazz de Montréal, the Francofolies de Montréal, the Just for Laughs Festival, the Montreal World Film Festival , the Cirque du Soleiland the Cabaret du Casino.

Located at the heart of the exhibition, Montreal's 650-square-metre contribution is brought to musical life by the work of Quebec artists, and has been on display before 750,000 visitors. The work showcases Montreal's hospitality to cultural and artistic events, and the award demonstrates how Montreal's festivals and major events are part of the city's international brand.
