... to overall implementation of the Lighting Plan.

The illumination of the five performance venues at the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Saint-Laurent will be reviewed in a report for the City of Montreal, offering recommendations for the implementation of a Lighting Plan throughout the Quartier des spectacles. The recommendations, presented at the end of 2006, will include the results of a feasibility and installation study, as well as projections of the financial means needed for its realization. They will be studied by a follwup committee composed of representatives from the different municipal services concerned: the Service de mise en valeur du territoire et du patrimoine, the Service du développement culturel, de la qualité du milieu de vie et de la diversité ethnoculturelle, the Service des infrastructures, transport et environnement, and the Ville-Marie Borough.

The project has received $450,000 of financial support from the City of Montreal. Since its launch at the end of July, it has elicited interest from pedestrians, amused and surprised by the red light that bathes the sidewalk in front of the five venues.
