From the Intersection of the Mains, access to over 80 cultural venues

This week, in a letter sent to the president of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), Michel Labrecque of the Quartier des spectacles Partnership proposed that the Saint-Laurent metro station be officially renamed "Saint-Laurent –Quartier des spectacles".

This initiative aims to enshrine the Quartier des spectacles as Montreal's great cultural destination. Over one hundred years old already, the neighbourhood will undergo a metamorphosis in the coming years. Redefining the station as the point of entry to the Quartier des spectacles will help mark the imaginations of Montrealers, visitors and tourists, suggesting the richness of an area that features 30 performance halls among its 80 cultural venues. All the more so as Saint-Laurent Boulevard itself, at its intersection with Sainte-Catherine Street, forms the heart of the neighbourhood, the Intersection of the Mains.
