Known as the “father of show business,” Guy Latraverse is an undisputed icon of the Québec music and entertainment industry. He launched his career as impresario, producer and agent in the early 1960s. A founding member of ADISQ in 1978, and co-founder of the FrancoFolies de Montréal in 1989, Guy Latraverse is known for his passion, vision and determination. His actions have been instrumental in building a strong Québec cultural identity. Long before the creation of the Quartier des spectacles, he thrilled hundreds of thousands of spectators with his large-scale events.

Guy Latraverse is the man in the shadows behind countless prominent artists who have been headliners at Place des Arts and Théâtre St-Denis for months or even years, including Yvon Deschamps and Diane Dufresne. His role in the rise of “his” artists has earned him widespread admiration: everyone wants to work with Guy Latraverse. “He’s a producer, but with the sensitivity and creativity of an artist,” says actress, lyricist and screenwriter Mouffe. His ability to take risks, surprise and stir up powerful emotions between audience and performers sets him apart and makes him an outstanding producer.

Guy Latraverse has received numerous awards, notably from the Académie des prix Gémeaux and SOCAN, and was celebrated twice by ADISQ, in 1988 and 2013. He is a Knight of the Ordre national du Québec, an Officer of the Ordre de Montréal, and an Officer of the Order of Canada.

Guy Latraverse was born on July 5, 1939 and died on October 14, 2023.
