This duet weaves an epic tale of the evolution of Homo sapiens from their cellular origins to their digital apparition. It’s a form of liberation. All is white and beige – costumes, canvas-covered floor, back wall screen – creating hospitable surfaces for lively abstract video images and body mapping projections captured by infrared cameras and cast onto the moving performers. A strange angularity shaping their bodies recalls Egyptian hieroglyphs and Greek mythology. Their physicality is anchored in the earth as the Minotaur encounters the lithe long-bodied heron. We humans are certainly beautiful beasts.

Sur scène / Onstage: Mattew Heli Brunel, Sébastien Provencher. Collaborateurs / Collaborators: Marco Dubé, Raphaël D'Amours, Sébastien Pedneault, Esther Carré, Jacques Poulin-Denis.

Cantos is a ritualistic solo, a quest for lost fragments, a yearning to once again reach the cosmic orgasm. Alejandro builds a bridge that links this peak experience with feelings of insatiability that found solace in addiction. Creating a solitary polyphonic chant and transcending the objecthood and kitsch of a handed-down accordion, he intensifies his vibration. This is a raw lullaby, one that soothes the root of his ravenousness: intergenerational trauma. The performer seeks the body without memory to release ancestral restlessness and conditioning. His shadow dances its way back into consciousness to unveil the ultimate self-deception: the insatiability of the seeker.

Sur scène / Onstage: Alejandro Sajgalik. Collaborateurs / Collaborators: Hugo Dalphond, Josée Gagnon.
