SOLEDAD BARRIO & NOCHE FLAMENCA

Information on the activity

Dates to come

First created during a development period at Luis Valdez' El Teatro Campesino in San Juan Bautista, California, in 2016, Artistic Director Martín Santangelo has since transformed and developed the show at various venues, including The Joyce Theater in February 2018.

Originally inspired by Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde, Santangelo and Soledad Barrio have implemented variations inspired by Ingmar Bergman's Persona, Amiri Baraka's The Dutchman, pianist James Booker, and other influences. This present incarnation, titled Rondan Los Deseos, includes new duets, trios, and other musical numbers. Each reincarnation is brand new.

We are thrilled to have three dancers, which include Soledad Barrio, Antonio 'El Chupete' Rodriguez and Marina Elana. This piece is rooted in traditional flamenco but uses the genre to search for a profound truth in relationships. Santangelo is thrilled to bring this production to Montreal.
