What does Swan Lake inspire in contemporary choreographers? Three of the world’s dance superstars boldly tackle this iconic romantic ballet for the 16 dancers of Gauthier Dance.

Choreographer and artistic director Éric Gauthier has given a trio of his favourite choreographers free rein to create their own version of the legendary ballet. Cayetano Soto, Marie Chouinard and Hofesh Shechter appropriate Swan Lake, shaking it up and subverting its beauty in original ways, in three daring approaches that are respectively mysterious, radical and explosive. Each choreographer has left their distinctive stamp on their vision of the work, set to music of their choice by Peter Gregson, Louis Dufort and Hofesh Shechter, more or less inspired by Tchaikovsky’s famous score. An evening of shocks and contrasts —no gauzy tutus and romantic moonlight here!
