BALLET PRELJOCAJ, EMPTY MOVES (PARTS I, II & III)
Information on the activity
September 19, 2014 to September 20, 2014
Empty moves features actions and movements inspired by the words and phonemes read by John Cage from a text by Henry David Thoreau at the Milan Teatro Lirico in 1977. The notions of detachment, of the disintegration of movements and of a new articulation for choreographic phrasing prevail over the sense and essence of movements.
Angelin Preljocaj began as a classical dancer before turning to contemporary dance with Karin Waehner, Zena Rommett, Merce Cunningham, Viola Farber and Quentin Rouillier. He created his own company in 1985, and has since choreographed 48 pieces, often collaborating with artists from other fields, such as Enki Bilal, Air, Jean Paul Gaultier, Laurent Garnier. His works have been performed the world over by many different companies. He has also accepted commissions, notably for the Ballet of the Paris National Opera.
