Discovering Hot Peppers and Hot Sauce

Participate in a delicious workshop presented by the Quartier des Spectacles and AU/LAB in collaboration with La Pimenterie. Through the fascinating history of peppers and culinary traditions, explore this vibrant and flavour-rich world. 

Dive into the world of peppers with Julien Fréchette for an activity both instructive and engaging! Discover the history of peppers and the surprisingly rich history of hot sauces. Learn to recognize different varieties and, if you're feeling brave, taste them! 

We'll also explore the main methods for preserving peppers and the fundamentals of making a good homemade sauce. Then it's workshop time: create your own spicy condiment without cooking to take home. 

Ingredients and materials are prepared in advance to foster a participatory, accessible experience that encourages dialogue around this fascinating world.

La Pimenterie – President, founder, and chief pepper enthusiast. Julien Fréchette is a producer of sensory and gustatory experiences on a mission to spice up the world. A Quebec-based filmmaker-screenwriter and sound engineer recognized for compelling documentaries, notably Chiliheads (2021), he is interested in social and political topics. A true passionate who brings creativity and expertise to every encounter.
