ROLLER RINK RULES: TRANQUILLE À ROULETTES

To ensure a safe and pleasant experience for all, you must always follow these rules and the instructions of the Esplanade Tranquille staff.

EQUIPMENT

  • Wear roller skates while on the roller rink.
  • You may bring your own roller skates.
  • Enter and exit only through the designated access points.
  • Wearing a helmet, wrist guards, knee pads or elbow pads is recommended.

While on the roller rink, it is strictly prohibited to:

  • Use a scooter or skateboard.
  • Wear shoes or boots, except where expressly authorized under the FAMILIES section of these rules.
  • Wear a headset, headphones or a backpack, or any other equipment that could compromise the safety of users or traffic flow on the roller rink.

SAFETY AND CONDUCT

  • Skate safely and responsibly.
  • Follow the direction of traffic.
  • Report any injured person or any situation requiring assistance to a member of the Esplanade Tranquille staff.

While on the roller rink, it is strictly prohibited to:

  • Engage in abusive, aggressive or disorderly conduct. This includes, but is not limited to, sudden full-speed stops, insults or fighting.
  • Skate at excessive or dangerous speeds, stop abruptly, or perform stunts or jumps.
  • Sit or lie down on the roller rink surface. Seating areas with benches are provided for this purpose.
  • Adjust or remove your skates on the roller rink surface.
  • Hold hands with more than one other person while skating.
  • Shove or chase others, or engage in any other activity that could endanger the safety of roller rink users.
  • Gather along the railings or near the entrances and exits.
  • Climb on railings or structures installed on the roller rink.
  • Skate when the roller rink surface is wet, or when a member of the Esplanade Tranquille staff determines that conditions are not safe for skating.
  • Leave objects on the roller rink that could obstruct traffic.

USAGE

  • The recommended skating time is about 90 minutes, to allow everyone to enjoy the roller rink.
  • Use the lockers provided to store your personal belongings.

FAMILIES

  • Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult on the roller rink.
  • When a child is learning to skate, an adult may accompany them in shoes, but only within the beginner zone.

It is strictly prohibited to:

  • Carry a child in your arms or in a baby carrier while skating.
  • Use a stroller, except on Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 3 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

FOOD AND DRINK

It is strictly prohibited to:

  • Smoke or vape.
  • Eat or drink.
  • Skate while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

PETS

It is strictly prohibited to:

  • Bring a pet.

The Esplanade Tranquille staff reserves the right to warn or ask any person violating these rules, or whose behaviour endangers the safety of skaters, visitors or staff, to leave the roller rink or Esplanade Tranquille, without reimbursement. Staff also reserve the right to temporarily or permanently ban any person violating these rules of use or behaving in an aggressive or violent manner.

Acknowledgement and acceptance of risks related to roller skating

Waiver of liability and right to claim damages for persons entering the Esplanade Tranquille roller rink.

All persons entering the Esplanade Tranquille roller rink ("Participants") understand, acknowledge, recognize and accept that roller skating is an inherently dangerous and physically demanding activity. Participants assume full responsibility for any risk of injury, property damage or death resulting from their participation in any activity at Esplanade Tranquille and all related and nearby facilities.

Participants hereby waive their rights to all claims, including but not limited to those related to bodily injury, property damage, loss or death, that the Participant and/or their heirs, assigns and/or legal representatives may have against Esplanade Tranquille, the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership, Patin Patin or the Ville de Montréal and/or their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, directors, administrators, employees, agents and volunteers, resulting from the Participant's use of Esplanade Tranquille and its related facilities and/or the rental of roller skates and protective equipment.

Participants hereby release and discharge Esplanade Tranquille, the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership, Patin Patin and the Ville de Montréal and/or their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, directors, administrators, employees, agents and volunteers from any and all liability for any loss, damage or expense that the Participant and/or their heirs, assigns and/or legal representatives may incur as a result of the Participant's use of Esplanade Tranquille, its related facilities and/or the rental of roller skates and protective equipment, for any cause whatsoever, including but not limited to negligence or termination of contract on the part of Esplanade Tranquille, the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership, Patin Patin or the Ville de Montréal and/or their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, directors, administrators, employees, agents and volunteers, in connection with the operation, supervision, design, maintenance or condition of Esplanade Tranquille and/or its related facilities and/or surrounding areas.

Participants acknowledge having read the roller rink rules of Esplanade Tranquille and the Code of Conduct for Users of Quartier des Spectacles Public Spaces, and agree to comply with them, as well as to follow the instructions of Esplanade Tranquille operating staff. Failure to comply with these rules, the Code of Conduct, or these instructions may result in, among other things, termination of the Participant's use of Esplanade Tranquille and/or the rental of skates or protective equipment, without reimbursement.
