Vietnamese Gastronomy in the Spotlight
Gastronomy has always played a central role in the Fête, bringing people together around culture and cuisine. In connection with the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the arrival of the “boat people” refugees, and in partnership with the Centre culturel vietnamien, Marylyn Tran, chef of the restaurant Tran Cantine, will present a culinary demonstration featuring Vietnamese rolls, followed by a tasting of her creations and a dried fruit snack.
Quartier Partners Meet Citizens
The Quartier’s cultural organizations have created a variety of welcoming spaces for citizens to wander through the pavilion and Esplanade Tranquille, fostering exchange, creativity, and memorable experiences. Children can enjoy music awakening workshops led by the Orchestre Métropolitain, while Théâtre du Nouveau Monde invites participants to a theatrical karaoke. MEM – Centre des mémoires montréalaises will bring back its citizen bikes. Agora de la danse and Le Balcon will present their programs, and Tangente joins the Fête for the first time this year. On stage, Danse Danse and Vision Diversité will delight audiences, while Société des arts technologiques [SAT] and Maison Théâtre offer interactive activities, from an audio production workshop to a molding activity for both kids and adults.
A Vibrant Day of Entertainment
Throughout the day, the face painting booth will welcome children, and giant Scrabble and pocket games will entertain young and old alike. Vietnam will be highlighted both through its cuisine and artistic performances. The day will begin with the Huu Bac Quintet, co-presented by Vision Diversité. The public will also be invited to participate in a movement workshop inspired by participatory dance and everyday gestures, led by the Schmutt sisters and artist Chi Long.
