What are the opening hours of Esplanade Tranquille?

Esplanade Tranquille pavilion

  • Sunday to Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Thursday to Saturday: 9 a.m. to midnight

Skating rink

  • Sunday to Thursday : 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday : 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

No charge for skating rink access.
Schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions and/or event programming.

Rental counter

  • Sunday to Wednesday 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Thursday to Saturday: 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Changing room

  • Sunday to Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • Thursday to Saturday: 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Please note that all locker locks are cut off at midnight each day

What is there to do at Esplanade Tranquille?

There is a refrigerated skating rink in winter, a comfortable terrasse in summer, and a multipurpose pavilion that include, common areas for taking a break, a café, Galaxie Brasserie restaurant, a game rental counter and a self-serve library. Esplanade Tranquille also has an all-seasons festive side, with intimate performances presented by the many festivals and events based in the Quartier.

ACCESS AND BOOKING

DO I NEED TO MAKE A RESERVATION OR PURCHASE TICKETS TO SKATE ON THE ESPLANADE TRANQUILLE RINK?

The Esplanade Tranquille rink and pavilion are public spaces, open to all at no charge.

Except during certain scheduled festivals and events, it is not necessary to make reservations or purchase tickets to access the site.

HOW LONG WILL I BE ABLE TO ENJOY THE SKATING RINK?

The closing date of the Esplanade Tranquille skating rink will be determined during the month of March, based on weather conditions. 

IS THE SITE CLOSED WHEN IT RAINS?

The Esplanade Tranquille pavilion remains open when it rains. The rink will be closed during heavy precipitation and some outdoor activities may be cancelled. When in doubt, check our social media!

IS THE SITE ACCESSIBLE TO PEOPLE WITH REDUCED MOBILITY?

Yes, the outdoor site and the pavilion are accessible to those with reduced mobility.

It is now possible to borrow special equipment that makes it possible for everyone to enjoy the rink! The devices are free, but a reservation is required:

  • 2 walkers
  • 1 tubular sled chair*
  • 1 lugiglace (for wheelchair users)*.

*The sled chair and lugiglace require a second person to help with steering.

PARATRANSIT

To use the STM’s paratransit service, visit https://www.stm.info/en/para

It is recommended that you disembark at the corner of Sainte-Catherine and Saint-Urbain, or in the drop-off zone at 66 De Montigny. Esplanade Tranquille’s street address (1442 Clark) is inside a pedestrianized zone (universally accessible).

SKATING RINK AND SKATE RENTAL

IS THERE A TIME LIMIT ON THE SKATING RINK?

You can stay on the ice as long as you wish. However, the recommended skating time is about 90 minutes to give everyone a chance to enjoy the rink.

WHAT IS THE RINK’S CAPACITY?

The rink’s maximum capacity is 400 people. However, during certain activities the limit may be temporarily reduced to ensure a safe and pleasant skating experience.

HOW BIG IS THE ESPLANADE TRANQUILLE SKATING RINK?

The ice surface is 1,500 m2.

WHAT IS THE RESURFACER'S SCHEDULE?

  • First passage: 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Second passage: 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

HOW DOES THE SKATE RENTAL WORK?

A rental counter operated by Patin Patin is located in the Repaire, inside the pavilion. Equipment can be rented for a maximum of 2 hours. An ID card must be left at the counter as a deposit.

- Helmet: $4.35
- Skating aids: $4.35 (limited quantities)

Service
- Skate sharpening: $6.95

Season pass 2022-2023*
- Individual: $54.00
- Family (4 people, minimum 1 adult): $205.00

Rates do not include taxes 
*The 2022-2023 season pass is only available online. Valid for the entire winter season, until April 2023.

ARE SKATING LESSONS AVAILABLE?

There are time slots for free skating with instructors available at no charge. They can give you advice to help you improve. Please see the rink schedule for details.

CAN I GET MY SKATES SHARPENED?

Yes, it is possible to get your skates sharpened for $6.95 + taxes at the Patin Patin rental counter.

ARE THERE TIME SLOTS FOR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN?

Free activities for families and children are offered on Sunday mornings. Please see the rink schedule for details.

Rental of learning aids for children

Learning aids in the form of mini-Zambonis are available for helping very young children learn to skate in a fun and safe way. A limited number of learning aids are available at the Patin Patin rental counter, on weekday eveninings.

Patin Patin employees reserve the right to suspend learning aid rentals without notice when the rink is very busy, in order to keep the rink safe for everyone.

Patin Patin employees prioritize reservations of learning aids during scheduled learning activities (Ice Garden and on-ice instructors). These activities are free of charge.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

General information:

Are there toilets available?

Yes, unisex bathrooms can be found inside the pavilion.

Is there a dedicated space for nursing or changing my baby?

Yes, there is a private nursing room with changing tables upstairs inside the pavilion.

CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD AND DRINK TO THE SITE?

Yes, you are allowed to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages to the Esplanade Tranquille site. However, eating and drinking are not allowed on the rink.

ARE THERE RESTAURANTS NEARBY?

Galaxie Brasserie, on the ground floor of the pavilion, serves a European-style menu.

In the Grand salon, a café operated by Patin Patin serves delicious snacks and a wide range of hot and cold drinks to refresh you between skating sessions.

CAN I LEAVE MY PERSONAL BELONGINGS IN A LOCKER?

A changing room with lockers is available in the Repaire, inside the pavilion. You can bring your own padlock or rent one from the rental counter. Please note that we are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

I lost something during my last visit. Where can I pick it up?

If you have lost a personal item at Esplanade Tranquille, please send an email to info@esplanadetranquille.com with a detailed description of the item. We will check whether it has been found. If you are at the site, please go directly to the reception desk

In order to ensure a pleasant experience for all, please consult the skating rink rules for Esplanade Tranquille before your visit.

Can I bring my pet?

Pets are not allowed on the rink, but they are allowed on other outdoor parts of the site.*

*Subject to change for specific events.

Can i use alcohol or cannabis on site?

It is strictly forbidden to bring or consume alcohol outside of designated areas. The use of cannabis is prohibited on the site of the Esplanade Tranquille.

GETTING THERE

How do i get to the Quartier des Spectacles?

METRO

The green and orange lines stop at the Quartier des spectacles. There are three metro stations:
Berri-UQAM Metro (orange and green lines)
Saint-Laurent Metro (green line)
Place-des-Arts Metro (green line)

BUS

The Quartier can also be reached by 10 bus lines.

Where can i park?

You can park your car in the streets surrounding the Quartier des Spectacles, according to the regulations in effect, or in the indoor and outdoor paid parking lots.

COVID-19

What sanitary rules must be followed?
