Notice to residents and workers in Quartier des Spectacles: JUST FOR LAUGHS FESTIVAL

July 14 to 29, 2018

For a 36th consecutive year, the biggest comedy festival will present a wide array of free entertainment, performances, and major outdoor shows! The Festival will also present the Twins Parade and host the gastronomic event Bouffons ! MTL which offers a rich gourmet offer and will showcase a variety of products.


In addition to the streets that are currently made pedestrian and that are already closed to automotive traffic, Festival activities require additional street from July 11 to August 4, on the following streets:

  • De Maisonneuve Boulevard between Saint-Urbain and De Bleury
  • Jeanne-Mance street between Sainte-Catherine and Président-Kennedy


Setup will take place from Wednesday, July 11 to Wednesday, July 18:

  • On Sainte-Catherine street between Jeanne-Mance and Saint-Urbain (from July 11 to July 14)
  • Quadrangle De bleury, Saint-Urbain / Sainte-Catherine, President-Kennedy (from July 13 to July 18)

Teardown will take place from Monday, July 30 to Saturday, August 4.


In order to present high-quality shows, the team will perform sound checks on:

  • from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. everyday of the Festival


Note that there will be pyrotechnics special effects that will make noise on July 26 and July 29.


To ensure a safe environment for all and to respect obligations related to public gatherings, certain rules must be followed on the outdoor site during event hours.

When you arrive, our hospitality and security staff will ask you to open your bags to check the contents.

Following an order of the Régie des alcools, it is forbidden to enter or leave the site with alcohol. In addition, security matters compel us to forbid glass containers on the Festival site. Thus, the contents of those bottles will be poured in recyclable plastic cups at the entrance of the site.

Pets are prohibited, except for clearly identified service dogs. Bicycle, skateboard and roller skates are not allowed on the site. The Festival reserves the right to refuse any other objects likely to compromise the security of festival goers.
