Information on the activity

April 19, 2014 to May 24, 2014

Galerie Donald Browne presents SAVE TIME - Drawings by Jérôme Ruby, from April 19th to May 24th, 2014. The artist will be present at the opening, April 19th at 4 pm.

Inspired by a slogan on a deposit envelope from a large corporate bank ATM, Save Time Save Energy, is a series of drawings of landscapes, portraits, illustrations of animals and objects. Naive, surrealist, brutalist and even minimal, these fantastical images gravitate around other non-representationalist drawings, stained or made with rapid gesture, some modeled in neon. Poetic drawings lead us on a voyage into the iconoclastic imagination of the artist. Save Time explores the links and contradictions between the need for productivity and the fragility of all human existence.

Jerome Ruby works principally in drawing and sculpture. His installations play with codes of visual representation. They instigate a dialogue on an integral part of the contemporary landscape: recognizing that the development of our culture reflects the predominance of the economy, the weight of history and the role of the sacred. His work also makes us think about current aesthetics or rather, the manufacture and manipulation of its conceptual bearings.
