While always mindful of sacred rites, the exultant way this group wields traditional drums, bells and rattles clearly exposes the influence Vodou has had on modern music, from jazz to rock, blues to gospel, Afrobeat to rap… Backed by a very effective trio of guitar, bass and drums, their songs are at times gentle, rhythmically sung, other times raw and chant-like, but they always light up the stage, just as they did when they performed at the legendary Carnegie Hall.
