A concert by oud master Mohamed Masmoudi, a performance by the dazzling Bijuriya, and an electrifying DJ set by TransPacific Express. Come celebrate the end of the festival with us!
Hosted by drag artist and musician Bijuriya, Festival Accès Asie’s Closing Event kicks off with an exciting concert by composer, oudist, and double bassist Mohamed Masmoudi, internationally recognized as a master of strings, particularly the oud. Ancestor of the lute, the oud is a plucked stringed instrument prominent in the Arab world and found in Turkey, Iran, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and elsewhere. Masmoudi’s concert will feature original compositions and selections from a varied repertoire, traveling between different musical styles and cultures. Through the sound of the oud, Mohamed Masmoudi will invite us to explore the melodies of Maqams (oriental scales), jazz harmonies, and rhythms of the Caucasus, the fruit of decades of research and perfection.
The evening continues with a musical performance by Bijuriya. On stage, Bijuriya is charismatic, twisted, energetic, and sparkling. Half-Indian and half-Quebecoise, Bijuriya explores her cultural roots, oscillating between homage, parody, and critical thought.
For the final performance of this 2024 edition, Transpacific Express will present a DJ set bringing the best of hip-hop, K-pop, R&B, and house to the dance floor.
