La Murga Ensamble was born out of a desire to uplift the role of salsa in Montréal’s vibrant musical scene. From hardcore salsa fans to curious beginners, La Murga prides itself on our inclusivity. Each of our events foregrounds a new set of young musical talents, starting the night with an energetic live open jam and finishing off with rich all-vinyl DJ sets led by the Tumbao collective. Of course, there is no salsa without the dance. Because of this, we at La Murga seek to create a space for all levels of salsa dancing, valuing the type of energy and connectedness that can only be found at the intersections of live music and dance.
