The lack of phallus, presented as an impairment, has often been used to define female gender identity. Choreographer-performer Julia B. Laperrière tackles this issue from a queer feminist perspective by using a strap-on dildo as a transformative tool. How does it feel to have/wear a penis? How does it affect the way one moves? What power inherits the one who bears it? A collaboration with musician Pia Achternkamp, Falla offers an invitation to playfulness, an incursion into the in-between that puts forth an alternative – perhaps mutating – vision of female sexuality, liberated and unashamed.
