NITTY GRITTY: MALE TOILET ANGST BY EVERGON

From February 25 to April 8, 2023.

The exhibition "Nitty Gritty: Male Toilet Angst," from the series "Manscapes," by Montreal photographer Evergon, features an impressive selection of Polaroid photographs, taken during Evergon's many travels in search of clandestine gay cruising spots.

For a decade, at the turn of the millennium, the artist travelled around the world to record the traces of the men who frequent these secret meeting places for gay sex.

A rare record, Evergon's striking and gritty photographs present images of the shady areas, worn spots, seats and pissoirs, where bodies come together, marked by graffiti, porno drawings, messages left behind, and names scratched on surfaces.
