In a Swiss alpine village where life moves according to the seasons, new arrival Marco, a lowlander, falls for Anna, the local barmaid and letter carrier. Their love for one another is as sweeping and timeless as the surrounding snowy peaks. Alas, the wedding is barely over when their happiness is cruelly upended and the small community shaken to the core when Marco is diagnosed with a brain tumour.
