AMERICAN RHAPSODY: FROM FOLKLORE TO LEGEND

AMERICAN RHAPSODY: FROM FOLKLORE TO LEGEND

Information on the activity

Dates to come

The three composers on this program have found folklore to be rich soil for developing works that are emblematic of their cultures. Jacques Hétu revisits Quebec folk tales in Légendes, while Gershwin crystallized the sounds of jazz in Rhapsody in Blue, a work that will feature Argentinian pianist Sergio Tiempo. Finally, Márquez drew inspiration from the Mexican tradition to compose his Danzón no. 2, a masterpiece of wistful melodies and montuno rhythms, a vital force of Mexican music.
