NOUBAS D'ALGER - LILA BORSALI & ABBAS RIGHI / 15E FESTIVAL DU MONDE ARABE DE MONTRÉAL

The 15th FMA will lie amidst sensational gatherings and renewed forms of poetry, joining the grande dame of Arab-Andalusian music, Lila Borsali, with the master of Malouf song, Abbas Righi. The smooth-voiced songstress and the singer with his powerful timbre are fitting representatives to sing the age-old heritage of mythical Andalusia, a nucleus of blending and intercultural coexistence.

Known for great mastery of their art, they share an unlimited passion for the Andalusian world of poetry and music. Each coming from a different school of music, in Tlemcen and Constantine respectively, they devote their voices to performing lyrics that sing of a joyful Andalusia, contemplating the beauty of nature, amplifying the grace of a beloved woman, but also sublimating the furrow of separation.

With its revisited interpretations of noubas and of the Haouzi and Madih repertories, the duo charms its audiences through the delicacy and refinement of its incantations and through its hymns to passion and love conveyed by a unique vibrato.
