Information on the activity

August 20, 2020 to November 1, 2020

On the occasion of the first 35 years of Dany Laferrière’s literary career, the Quartier des Spectacles is giving the writer and the public a new exhibition, Un cœur nomade. Comprising seven distinct panels, the exhibition retraces the artist’s life in words, images and sounds.

From his happy childhood in Haiti to his election to the Académie française, Un cœur nomade invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of a multi-talented man and explore a life marked by exile, women and words.

Everyone is invited to immerse themselves in Laferrière’s story through a series of panels. They depict his childhood in Haiti, where he first discovered his artistic inclinations; his departure for Montreal, the adoptive home where he came into his own as a writer; his time in Miami, another city that helped shape his literary talent; and Paris and the Académie française, still a powerful force in his words.

The exhibition, inspired by Laferrière’s three graphic books, is a charming and colourful immersion in the unique world of one of Quebec’s most beloved authors.

Presented on the Promenade des Artistes from August 20 to November 1, 2020, Un cœur nomade uses the large display windows of the Pavillon Président-Kennedy.
