Œuvres de El-Khoury, Gougeon et Messiaen.

The Poulin-Marchand duo places the infinite possibilities of the repertoire for two pianos at the service of a programme in search of the infinite! To this end, Visions de l’Amen, Olivier Messiaen’s monumental work, will be presented 50 years after the composer himself performed them at the invitation of the SMCQ… before the astonished eyes of a young Jean Marchand! Visions cosmiques continues in Denis Gougeon’s Schubertian-accented work Andante Sostenuto, which was described by critics as “an exquisitely slow and meditatively oriented piece” at its premiere (Lucie Renaud in the Clavier bien tempéré). Finally, Bechara El Khoury’s Sonate pour piano no 3 «Jésus, l’enfant du soleil» will complete this poetic and universal recital by paying tribute to the victims of the recent explosion in Beirut in August 2020. This work is originally for solo piano: in this concert, the pianists have divided the different sections in the form of a dialogue. Ultimately, a webcast concert where you’ll experience a virtual but nonetheless astronomical musical communion!
