THE SCOTS IN 19TH CENTURY MONTREAL

Information on the activity

Dates to come

Scots—from regions all across Scotland—made their way to Quebec in great numbers from the 18th century to the early 20th century. Immigrants from the Scottish Lowlands mostly settled in urban centres like Montreal. Throughout this period, they were very active in trade and business. Many of them made fortunes and left behind a philanthropic legacy that is still very much alive today.
A look at these immigrants and their descendants who contributed to this period, turning our city into the country’s economic metropolis and keeping their traditions alive.
