Sahim Omar Kalifa was born in 1980 in Kurdistan (Iraq) and came to Belgium in 2001, where he studied at the University of Art and Design Sint-Lukas Brussels. His graduation short Nan won a grant from the Flemish Audiovisual Fund which he used to make Land of the Heroes (2011) and Baghdad Messi (2012), shown and awarded worldwide.
