POUR SORTIR AU JOUR / OLIVIER DUBOIS (FRANCE)

An intimate solo that explores the hidden nooks of the body’s memory and its ability to tell us the (hi)story of his art. Named one of the 25 top dancers in the world in 2011 by Dance Europe magazine, Olivier Dubois has performed with renowned artists and has presented his works in prestigious venues. In this new bare bones piece, he dances solo, without frills or a backup plan. The choreographer and dancer joyfully plunges into an exercise that by turns might take on the aspect of a trial, a peep show or even a dissection. Submitting to a random process commanded by the audience following rules that he himself has set, Olivier Dubois visits some of the sixty dance works he has performed in and/or choreographed since the beginning of his career. He has spectators embark on a fragmented tour of dance, the better to discover the artist, seeking in the performer’s body the makings of a masterpiece. An entertaining declaration of love for dance.
