ARTIST’S TALK WITH THEODORE USHEV

ARTIST’S TALK WITH THEODORE USHEV

Information on the activity

Dates to come

This 4-hour masterclass will focus on Theodore Ushev’s latest work, The Physics of Sorrow, for which he drew inspiration from a novel by Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov. This unique artist’s talk will be a multidisciplinary one, mixing live animated work using the technique of encaustic painting, public participation, dance, VJing and performances, as well as a few surprise guests. The Physics of Sorrow is Theodore Ushev’s most ambitious, intimate and touching film to date. It paints a compelling picture of a disconnected generation, lost inside perpetually shifting spaces both private and geographical. Every frame of the film, exquisitely drawn and animated by the 2017 Oscar-nominated filmmaker, is a work of art in itself, aptly evoking the mesmerizing existence of its nostalgic protagonist.
Adults: $15 Students and seniors: $12 Free admission for Sommets Passport holders and Cinémathèque members.
