L'EMPIRE DE MÉDOR / ANATOMIE D'UN RAPPORT

Near Paris is a strange cemetery, where our canine friends rest after a lifetime of (excessive?) pampering. This is the starting point for an incisive meditation on the royal treatment given some pet dogs, sometimes to the point of madness. From grooming to the burden of poop, to the lucrative dog industry, this deadpan commentary cleverly denounces the indecency of our Western societies.

A couple leads a meticulously ordered, and deadly boring, life. Co-directed by Luc Moullet and his girlfriend Antonietta Pizzorno, with whom he also appears on-screen, Anatomie d’un rapport is autofiction that tells a tale of the trials of intimacy – sexual and creative alike – as a way to grasp the upheavals of an era marked by the women’s lib movement.
