SANS FRAPPER

Ada, just out of adolescence, went to the house of a young man she knew. She didn’t fight back, and it all happened very quickly, but the trauma remains. With humility and frankness, Sans frapper tackles the delicate and intimate matter of rape. Alexe Poukine’s approach is novel: she has multiple different people read Ada’s account. It is an appropriation that creates a trusted space for speaking out, and other heartbreaking stories soon emerge. By exploring the diversity of experiences and perspectives, the filmmaker examines stubborn prejudices without sanc-timony or condescension, while powerfully demonstrating that relativism and hierarchy are irrelevant when it comes to rape.
