TALKING ABOUT TREES
Information on the activity
Dates to come
Four Sudanese directors, friends for over 45 years, decide to take up an unlikely challenge: bringing movies back to a country where all theatres have been shuttered. Talking about Trees reveals the many obstacles these hard-core film buffs face in a country kept down by an Islamist dictatorship. Suhaib Gasmelbari’s first film, a moving epic leavened by humour about a heroic struggle against an increasingly stringent bureaucracy, reminds us of the importance of showing films on the big screen, but also of the necessity of passing down cultural heritage to future generations.
