THE LAST WAVE
Information on the activity
Dates to come
As Australia suffers a barrage of extreme weather events, a young lawyer is hired to defend a group of Aborigines accused of murder. He slowly discovers a mystical connection with one of the accused, and starts to see the climatic anomalies in a new light. An obscure film by one of Australia’s most acclaimed directors, The Last Wave is a film to be experienced body and soul, like a dream. Weir tackles the climate crisis by contrasting Indigenous spiritual worldviews to Western rationalism, which proves powerless against overwhelming forces of nature. Rarely has a film depicted the eve of collapse with such atmosphere. NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE - restored version.
