In the video Every Room is a Waiting Room Part 1, Bridget Moser makes off-kilter uses of banal objects while emphasizing their comic potential. The objects become protagonists in peculiar sequences of interactions. The absurd narrative that Moser concocts also includes an assortment of gestures, verbal sequences, and sounds that give shape to the “new” functions that she develops. She pokes fun at a kind of binarism created by her paradoxical use of the Pantone Company’s 2017 colour-palette-sanctioned blue and pink to characterize the objects in the video. In doing so, she challenges the categorical systems that inform our behaviour with respect to consumer goods.
