Active since 2009 and with two EPs in her pocket, Sarahmée has come a long way since her first solo project in 2010. Far from being a newcomer on the French-speaking scene, Sarahmée has distinguished herself by collaborating with several local and French artists throughout her career and for her first album Légitime, released in 2015. Confident and more mature, she is currently one of the few recognized urban artists in this predominantly male universe. 2018 was a flourishing year for Sarahmée, as she opened for French rapper Orelsan in Toronto in September as well as for Random Recipe’s Montreal show. Moreover, she performed at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, collaborated on Quality Motel’s album and was selected to be one of the faces of Sephora’s cosmetics last advertising campaign in Canada.

Following the release last May of her brand new single, T’as pas cru, a dance anthem, with moombathom tones and inspired by Colombian cumbia, we can assert that Sarahmée has found the right balance between rap, pop, and afro and has now created a sound of her own. Her latest single Freedom, released last December, will also be part of her upcoming album scheduled to drop this spring 2019. This pop song with afro accents is retracing Sarahmée’s path and affirms her determination to be free through her music and her choices. Sarahmée is co-spokesperson for the 23rd edition of Francouvertes, a music contest, which will take place in the spring of 2019 in Quebec.
