RECONSTRUCTION OF GERTIE THE DINOSAUR

Winsor McCay created the first version of Gertie the Dinosaur
for his comedic performances in variety theatres, interacting
from the stage with the famous dinosaur on screen The restoration
of this lost version was a massive endeavour, made possible
thanks to the collaboration of numerous people, including David
L. Nathan, Donald Crafton, the NFB and the Cinémathèque.
Nearly 250 missing drawings needed to be recreated. These
drawings, which were created by Luc Chamberland, will be on
display for your admiration, in addition to an original drawing
by Winsor McCay from the Cinémathèque’s collection.
