MOUTHPIECE | PATRICIA ROZEMA
Amy Nostbakken and Norah Sadava garnered raves with their play Mouthpiece. Now they’re the stars of veteran filmmaker Patricia Rozema’s screen adaptation in the dual role of Cassandra, who has unexpectedly lost her mother. As she wanders through the city, she starts questioning the generous, overbearing woman she cherished, as well as her own psyche. The two actresses share dialogue and action, talk back and forth and exchange insults, often repeating the same gestures to create choreographies heightened by compelling editing. Mouthpiece is a highly sensitive work about the reality of women today and the pressures and contradictions they face.
