EDIT ET MOI

In 2004, director Zuzana Zelinova left Slovakia and moved to Quebec. Like many immigrants, she didn’t find it easy to integrate. To make a living, she started looking after Edit, an elderly, single Hungarian immigrant suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Although Edith has a tough character, she longs for the Budapest of her youth. Soon, Zuzana starts taking care of Zoltan, another immigrant with Alzheimer’s. Edit and me is a poignant account of these improbable relationships forged by fate, and an expression of real affection for the solitary, rootless people involved, who have often had to give up their biggest ambitions. With sensitivity and humour, the filmmaker tells her own story: in finding relief from the daily grind with her film project, she reveals a seldom-seen reality.
