MAMAN COLONELLE

MAMAN COLONELLE

Dates to come

Mama Colonel is police colonel Honorine, whose mandate is to protect children and combat sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. After being transferred from Bukavu, in the eastern part of the country, to Kisangani, she starts working with abused children whose parents have accused them of witchcraft. Her greatest challenge is trying to salve the scars left on women’s minds and bodies by the Six Days War, the bloody Rwanda-Uganda conflict in 2000 that killed and injured thousands of Congolese civilians. With this portrait of a most exceptional woman, Dieudo Hamadi (Atalaku and Examen d’État, RIDM 2013 and 2014) again shows his talent for powerful direct cinema. A lucid, empathetic film whose camera is constantly capturing meaningful moments.
