Every year, the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership invites residents to its big neighborhood party, held as part of the Journées de la culture. Come meet your neighbors and the cultural actors who bring your neighborhood to life in the friendly atmosphere of the esplanade Tranquille. A series of free activities, musical and dance performances, and greening activities are offered. Third edition, 2024

On September 28, 2024, the esplanade Tranquille hosted the third edition of the Fête du Quartier, a free celebration included in the Journées de la culture that highlighted residents as the “first spectators” of the Quartier des spectacles. From noon to 5 p.m., the public enjoyed artistic entertainment (stilt walkers, musical and lyrical performances, street performers, giant games, workshops, guided tours) and encounters with cultural institutions such as the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, the Orchestre Métropolitain, the MEM, the Agora de la danse, the Espace St-Denis, Danse Danse, Vision Diversité, and Le Balcon. On the gourmet side, Marina Orsini and chef Marc Maulà, in collaboration with Galaxie Brasserie, offered a culinary demonstration of minestrone soup, followed by free tastings of soup and tiramisu. The event also featured moments of awareness-raising about greening (a trail of potted trees, presentations) and participatory initiatives—a beautiful balance between culture, the environment, and gastronomy.

Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, Fête du Quartier, 2023

Second edition, 2023

On September 30, 2023, the esplanade Tranquille hosted a rich and convivial edition of the Fête du Quartier, a neighborhood festival that is at once cultural, green, and gourmet. From noon to 5 p.m., young and old alike enjoyed free entertainment: musical performances, original shows, guided tours of the neighborhood, panel discussions with artists (moderated by Julie Laferrière), and workshops to raise awareness about greening (a tour of potted trees, an urban agriculture kiosk with Biome, etc.). On the institutional side, participants met with committed cultural actors such as Maison Théâtre, Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, Orchestre Métropolitain, Agora de la danse, and MEM – Centre des mémoires montréalaises. The gourmet component celebrated squash with a cooking demonstration by chef Gilles Tolen, in collaboration with Galaxie Brasserie, followed by a free tasting of squash-based dishes.

Cooking demonstration by chef Daniel Vézina, Fête du Quartier, 2022

First edition, 2022

On October 1, the esplanade Tranquille hosted the very first Fête du Quartier des spectacles, a festive and free day dedicated to residents. Between circus acts, musical performances, giant games, guided tours, and artistic performances, the public also had the opportunity to meet several leading institutions such as the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, the Théâtre Sainte-Catherine, the Orchestre Métropolitain, and the Maison Théâtre. On the gourmet side, chef Daniel Vézina and the Galaxie Brasserie restaurant hosted a large tomato harvest, punctuated by tastings of homemade coulis and local squash. This first edition strengthened the bond between the community and the neighborhood's cultural actors in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
