Founded in 1995 through a partnership between the Université du Québec à Montréal and the Groupe Collège LaSalle, the UQAM École supérieure de mode was established to meet the emerging training needs driven by technological advancements and the modernization of the fashion industry. By combining their resources, experience, and expertise, these two institutions created a unique university program in North America, recognized both nationally and internationally, which enables its graduates to access strategic positions within the fashion sector.
Located in the heart of the Quartier Latin, the UQAM École supérieure de mode is situated near the main building of the École des sciences de la gestion (ESG), to which it is affiliated, as well as the Faculté des arts, including the École de design, with which several professors collaborate closely.
