This summer in the Jardins Gamelin: plenty of free concerts by emerging artists

Montreal, June 13, 2024 – The tenth season of the Jardins Gamelin is in full swing until September 15, 2024 with a diverse program highlighting up-and-coming local musical talents, presented with the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. Montrealers and visitors are invited to come dance on the verdant terrasse and enjoy the many free activities offered daily. Each summer, the Jardins Gamelin stage becomes a fantastic springboard for local and emerging artists in every musical genre.

Music for every taste

This summer, the friendly, inviting open-air space that is the Jardins Gamelin will host:

Donne-moi du funk ! every Tuesday evening

During the week, a series of free DJ sets will get people up and dancing with irresistible beats spun by GrandHuit (June 18 and 25 and July 30), the disco-funk-soul sounds of Les Funkés (July 16), and the tunes served up by Montreal’s First Lady of Funk, Ruby Jane (July 23, August 20, September 10).

Les Jardins d’Illusion - Wednesday evenings in June, August and September

This program is enhanced by new local artists from the Cosmovision Records collective, comprising the talented Guasá Guarriors and Khalil.M, June 26.

Les midis à la carte - Thursdays and Fridays at noon

On Thursdays and Fridays at lunchtime, the public is invited to discover numerous different artists. In June, the stage in the Jardins Gamelin hosts the sweet harmonies of Trio Zemlinski (June 13), the pop of Gabriella Olivo (June 14), the all-woman string quartet Quatuor Rhapsodie and their Rhapsodie hollywoodienne show (June 20), singer and guitarist Maxym Bronsard (June 21), the handpan and piano of Duo Francis Leclerc (June 27), and the musical world of Gabrielle Edda (June 28), the winner of the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership award at the Festival de la chanson de Saint-Ambroise. In July, jazz takes over with the EYM Trio (July 4), followed by interdisciplinary artist Olivia Khoury (July 5), Gypsy swing ensemble Trüko (July 11), pop-rock artist Jeanne Laforest (July 12), the highly creative Larynx (July 19) and the R&B of Nora Toutain (July 25).

Planète Gamelin - Thursday evenings

In the evening, the audience is invited to dance to music from around the world: DJ Thatz (June 13 and July 18), soul with Hanorah (June 13), house with Or Cadre (June 20), the return of Orchestre Chaabi de Montréal (June 20), DJ Sugarface BelFo at the turntables (June 27), the winning singer of the Cohorte MUZ 2024 competition, Bianca Rocha (June 27), and the Algerian sounds of Syroko (July 18).

Ce soir on danse ! - Friday evenings

On Fridays, the Jardins Gamelin will groove to the music of the newly formed duo Poirier et Cidoine (June 14), the tropical delights of MTL Sauce piquante (June 21), Afro-house from Empress Cissy Low (June 28), indie rock band Vendôme (June 28), the DJ collective Throwback Shorties (July 19), DJ and musician DJ Yuki (July 26) and a trio of Montrealers, Blesse (July 26).

Soirée Kizo Festival Montréal - June 19

The fifth edition of Kizo Festival Montréal presents six days of festive music in the heart of the city!

5@7 Haïti en folie and Planète Gamelin présented by Haïti en folie - July 24 and 25

The Haïti en folie festival takes over Les Jardins Gamelin, with bands and DJs playing Afro-Caribbean music and other genres.

La ligue d’improvisation Musicale de Montréal (LIMM) - June 25 and July 23

This musical improv group forms two teams that will give musical responses to challenges and topics assigned by cunning emcee Patrick Guérard.

About the Jardins Gamelin

In the spring of 2015, Place Émilie-Gamelin showed a new face to Quartier des Spectacles residents and visitors with Les Jardins Gamelin, open from May to September. A large, green and inviting civic space in the heart of downtown, Les Jardins Gamelin return every year with an original temporary layout and a versatile set of facilities. The space’s unique, accessible and human-scale programming, which has now completed five seasons, has become a part of daily life for residents and visitors, making Les Jardins Gamelin an inclusive gathering place in true Montreal style. The initiative, led by the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership and thanks to the support of the borough of Ville-Marie and numerous partners, including Sentier Urbain, the Société de développement social and the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SVPM).
