Change at the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership

Montréal, April 3, 2020 – The Quartier des spectacles Partnership announced today that its general manager, Pierre Fortin, will leave his post on April 6. The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Monique Simard, will assume these responsibilities until his replacement is hired. A recruitment process for this important position in the Montreal cultural community will soon be underway.

Pierre Fortin has led the Partnership for 11 years. Among his achievements was the creation of the light trail, out of which developed Luminothérapie. Les Jardins Gamelin is also one of his finest accomplishments. In addition, thanks to his drive, the Partnership participated in the foundation of the Global Cultural District Network, a grouping of urban centres with a cultural or artistic vocation whose leaders are invited to cooperate and share their knowledge about the management of cultural districts.

Monique Simard has been Chairman of the Board of the Partnership since September 2019. A cultural producer and manager, she has an impressive track record in the cultural milieu. During the last 12 years, she has held the positions of director of the French-language program at the National Film Board of Canada, and president and CEO of SODEC, Société de développement des entreprises culturelles.

ABOUT THE QUARTIER DES SPECTACLES PARTNERSHIP

Founded in 2003, the Partnership is a non-profit organization with more than 85 members active in the district. It is responsible for animating the Quartier des Spectacles by programming cultural activities, managing and animating public spaces, providing distinctive illumination and promoting the Quartier as a must-visit cultural destination. The Partnership is supported by the Ville de Montréal.
