In a lighthearted, touching and deeply humane spirit, Katerine will comment on his drawings. Then, Les Frères Philippe – the duo of Philippe Katerine and guitarist Philippe Eveno – will take the audience on a captivating and hilarious musical journey. The event, presented in collaboration with Place des Arts, will take place on May 7 at 8 p.m. in the Cinquième Salle.

A sculpture series for a thoroughly Mignoniste summer

The emblematic figures of Mignonisme, the Monsieur Rose (Mr. Pink) sculptures, created by Philippe Katerine, will be seen in iconic indoor and outdoor spaces in the heart of the city (fountains, building façades, rooftops, etc.). In all, 15 monumental sculptures will form a series from Nouveau Centre to the Quartier des Spectacles, including Place des Arts, Complexe Desjardins and Phillips Square. Visitors will be surprised and delighted by the polymorphous candy-pink figures that invite flights of reverie and imagination.

The sculptures will be accompanied by an original digital projection created by Montreal artist Jérémy Fassio in collaboration with Philippe Katerine, projecting Monsieur Rose figures on the façades of Édifice WILDER – Espace Danse and the wall outside Saint-Laurent metro station. The work will also be shown on the mosaic of screens inside Place des Arts, in a version enhanced with illustrations and music by Philippe Katerine.

Family workshops to explore Mignonisme

To introduce children to the playful artistic movement that is Mignonisme, several free creative workshops will be presented over the course of the summer in the Esplanade Tranquille pavilion. Participants will discover the work of Philippe Katerine through an educational booklet and have the chance to express their creativity with the artist’s Mignoniste drawings as a starting point and to create miniature Monsieur Rose figures. The first workshop will be held on May 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with Philippe Eveno present.
