Press release
Montreal, May 22, 2025 – From May 29 to September 14 this year, the 11th season of Les Jardins Gamelin brims with culture, diversity and warmth. As it does every summer, Place Émilie-Gamelin, located in the Quartier Latin sector of the Quartier des Spectacles, will become a giant green patio thanks to custom urban design elements. Montrealers and visitors are invited to get together and socialize with a lively free cultural program, open to all and presented daily.
In advance of the opening on May 29 – a festive evening featuring DJ Blackgold, Shah Frank and Pierre Kwenders – the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership today announces the main elements of the 2025 program for the Jardins. Come out, have fun and make the most of summer in this unique living space in the heart of the city!
A diverse program designed for enjoying every day of summer
Music, dancing, movies under the stars, creative workshops and cabaret nights: from Monday to Sunday all summer, visitors to Les Jardins Gamelin will enjoy 14 activity series starting at noon each day. Monday evenings starting at 6 p.m., show off your voice with the return of the ever-popular karaoke nights hosted by JP Niagara.
New for the 11th edition, Tuesdays at 9 p.m. are reserved for open-air movies on the big screen. Selected by Cinéma Public, the films invite cinephiles and casual viewers to (re)discover the best of Québécois and French cinema in a unique setting. The June lineup features Vingt Dieux by Louise Courvoisier (France) (June 3), Les rayons Gamma by Henry Bernadet (Quebec, Canada) (June 10), C’est pas moi, je le jure! by Philippe Falardeau (Quebec, Canada) (June 17) and La grande séduction by Jean-François Pouliot (Quebec, Canada) (June 24).
Every Wednesday, disco and funk energize lunchtime with the Midis Groovy series. At 6 p.m., get ready to dance the night away. In June, SPURS invites beginners and more experienced dancers to enjoy evenings of line dancing. In July, 100Lux returns with its streetdance sessions. On July 2, 9 and 23, learn the basics of house, hip-hop and electro with enthusiastic teachers, and on July 16 and 30 enjoy streetdance battles pitting talented dancers against each other, accompanied by irresistible music. In August, the very popular cabaret nights return with circus acts, fantasy and queer art with Cabaret Fierté (August 6), Cabaret de cirque Carmagnole (August 13), Cabaret Phénoména (August 20) and the all-new Cabaret Ballroom 4 community (Kiki Ball) (August 27).
Thursdays at noon, take a musical break with DJs chosen by Bonne Famille including BELLAVIE (June 5), LU B (June 12), SAP (June 19) and TEO2K (June 26), who will transport the audience with summer vacation sounds. Thursday evenings, Les Jardins d’Illusion will return to Place Émilie-Gamelin for another year. In June, the series starts with a roster of DJs from the Illusion Festival team (June 5). On the remaining Thursday evenings in June visitors will be entertained by the collectives KEEP IT DEEP, TURNT and MUSIK ME LUV.
To close out the week, every Friday from noon until late, up-and-coming artists will play live. It’s a chance to discover Frantz Lin, Fyore and Sheenah Ko (May 30), HULI, Sonido Pesao and Less Toches (June 6), Or Cadre and l’Orchestre Chaabi de Montréal (June 13), Divina, Fleur de Peau and Barber for the Queen (June 20), and CREVLO, Clara Dahlie and Carine Au Micro (June 27).
On weekends, kids and adults can do crafts with Les Affûtés one Saturday afternoon each month before learning salsa dancing with Espace Yambae, every Saturday starting at 7 p.m.
Finally, Sunday afternoons are especially for families, with a series of fun activities in July and August. To cap the weekend in style, the early-evening 5 à 7 Fréquence Collective series presents an original listening-session concept with DJ collectives and radio personalities who love discovering new music, including Or Cadre (June 1), Bye bye mon cowboy (June 8), Tumbao MTL! (June 15), Transpacific Express (June 22) and Whose Vibe (June 29).
Partner festivals: not-to-be-missed events
As usual, the 11th season will be punctuated and enriched by several partner festivals, including Accès Asie, which will hold its closing-night festivities in Les Jardins on May 31. MUTEK (July 18), Haïti en folie (July 25), Fierté Montréal Pride (July 31 and August 1), the Indigenous Peoples’ Festival (August) and Quartiers danses (two afternoons in September) will also enhance the summer program with unique activities.
At all times, Montrealers and visitors can come enjoy the snack bar by Les Survenants, an urban garden tended by Sentier Urbain, amenities created by En temps et lieu and giant games.
