Université du Québec à Montréal
Founded in 1969, the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is an educational institution affiliated with the Université du Québec. UQAM is an internationally renowned, French-language public institution that offers more than 350 programs of study and takes in more than 30,000 students annually, including close to 5,000 from 95 countries on every continent. Its reputation hinges on the originality of its programs, its cutting-edge research focused on social concerns, and its creative innovations. The university has two campuses in the Quartier des Spectacles—the first in the Quartier Latin and the second, the Complexe des sciences Pierre-Dansereau, near the Place-des-Arts metro station. UQAM is a major contributor to the artistic, cultural and economic vitality of the downtown area, and is actively involved in many of the projects of the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership, including digital arts programming and the greening of the district.
