Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal
Founded in 1964, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal is Canada’s first museum dedicated entirely to contemporary art. It holds over 8,000 works by Quebec, Canadian and international artists. This collection represents a social legacy and a shared heritage, whose strength lies in its multidisciplinary approach, diversity and depth. Since moving to Place des Arts in 1992, the MACM has continued to enrich its collection and present major exhibitions showcasing the work of local and international artists. In addition to temporary exhibitions, the museum’s activities also include educational programs and other varied projects offered in partnership with various Montreal organizations. Open to any medium or discipline, the main thrust of the museum’s development is the search for powerful, relevant and innovative practices.
