This is an institution dedicated to the underground scene. Who hasn’t heard of Les Foufounes Électriques? Montreal’s oldest bar has plenty of anecdotes to tell. Once the scene of discussions and cultural revolts, the “Foufs” saw the rise of Quebec alternative music pioneers such as Grim Skunk, Groovy Aardvark and Overbass, and welcomed international artists such as Nirvana, Hole, and the Smashing Pumpkins even before they became household names. In addition to numerous musical shows and art exhibitions, Les Foufounes Électriques offers themed evenings. Les Foufs continues to present concerts year-round, and its terrace overlooking tiny Boisbriand Street remains an ideal summer venue.
